While visiting Katie Gilmore’s Stone Silo Farm, she told us about volunteering for the Little Britches therapeutic driving program.
Here she shows us a special driving cart with one seat for the instructor and lock-in tracks for a wheel-chair’s wheels. Light-weight, removable ramps hook onto the back of the cart so the student can wheel up onto the cart. The ramps are stored under the instructor’s seat in this picture. The program’s miniature horse and grooming pony, Truffles, lives at Stone Silo Farm. He is just the right size for teaching very young students how to drive. Katie shows us another driving cart. With all those carts and horses, there’s a lot of harness to be storedWe were quite impressed with the pulley system Steve rigged so the harness can be hoisted up into the rafters and out of the way!
